In an unfortunate turn of events, legendary Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of cricket for six weeks due to a finger injury. Notably, Shakib got hit on his right index finger while attempting for a catch during the second ODI match against Ireland on Friday. After the incident, he was seen in severe pain and went for scans later. The x-ray report revealed a fracture on the tip of the finger, resulting in him missing out on plenty of action for the aforementioned period.

Here's what national team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said on his recovery:

"An X-ray on Saturday confirmed a fracture on the base of the index finger. Such injuries usually take around six weeks to heal."

The veteran Bangladesh all-rounder recently enjoyed stellar success across formats in the home season. He was set to represent Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023, but pulled out from the tournament in the eleventh hour as the Bangladesh Cricket Board denied him the No Objection Certificate.

With the ODI World Cup being around the corner, Bangladesh would like their most important player to recover quickly and join the national camp soon. Regarding the series, Bangladesh have taken an unassailable 1-0 lead and will aim at making it two-nil when they take on the Irish in the final game in Chelmsford today.
