Bangladesh pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman is set for his International League T20 (ILT20) debut after signing with defending champions Dubai Capitals. The franchise announced the move on Tuesday, August 12, confirming the left-arm seamer will replace England's Luke Wood for the upcoming fourth edition of the UAE-based tournament, scheduled from December 2 to January 4.

The 29-year-old 'Fizz', a veteran of major leagues like the IPL, PSL, LPL, and Vitality Blast, faces a potential hurdle. The ILT20 window clashes with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), raising questions about whether the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will grant him the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Dubai Capitals Warmly Welcomes Mustafizur

Dubai Capitals announced Mustafizur Rahman's signing on social media, stating, "The Fizz joins DC! We are delighted to welcome Bangladesh's pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman to the Dubai Capitals family for #DPWorldILT20 Season 4! Mustafizur will replace Luke Wood in the DC Squad."

They further highlighted his pedigree, "The Fizz brings a wealth of T20 experience to the Capitals, having featured in over 280 matches and scalping 360+ wickets."

His signing bolsters a Capitals squad already strengthened by the additions of all-rounders Gulbadin Naib and Dasun Shanaka, pacer Dushmantha Chameera, and West Indies stars Rovman Powell and Shai Hope.

Mustafizur boasts a formidable T20 record of 362 wickets in 289 matches at an average of 21.49 and an economy rate of 7.45, including six four-wicket hauls and four five-wicket hauls.

Mustafizur's IPL Experience

This marks Mustafizur's sixth overseas franchise league, adding to stints with IPL franchises Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals. Earlier in the 2025 IPL, he was acquired by Delhi Capitals for INR 6 crores as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk.

Looking ahead to the next IPL auction, expected to be a mini-auction, Delhi Capitals face a decision. Updated replacement rules mean they cannot retain Mustafizur automatically and must bid for him again if they wish to secure his services.
