NZ set to tour Bangladesh for a full-fledged tour [Twitter]
New Zealand cricket team is set to tour Bangladesh in two different segments this year. The tour holds much significance for Bangladesh cricket as they will be hosting New Zealand in multi-format matches for the first time in 10 years.
Back in 2013, the ‘Black Caps’ visited Bangladesh to play two Tests, three ODIs and a solitary T20I match between October and November. After their planned tour in 2020 was cancelled owing to Covid pandemic, they travelled to Bangladesh in September 2021 to play a five-match T20I series.
Bangladesh and New Zealand to play ahead of World Cup 2023
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have unveiled the schedule of their upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand at home. The series serves as a testing ground for both sides in the lead-up to the subsequent ODI World Cup in India.
The first of the three matches will be played on September 21 at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The venue will also host the remaining fixtures of the series over the course of the next five days.
Following the conclusion of the 2023 World Cup in India, the New Zealanders will travel back to Bangladesh for a new set of two Test matches. The red-ball fixtures will also form a part of the 2023-25 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for both sides.
However, the BCB will announce a full schedule of the Test series at a latter date.
