This afternoon, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released the updated player rankings across formats in men's cricket. Pakistan's biggest stars- Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi- went further down on the updated list in T20I and ODI player rankings.
Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan Slip In T20I Batter Rankings
India's swashbuckling batter Abhishek Sharma entered the top ten, progressing 38 positions following his onslaught against England in the home series. His overwhelming promotion led to the downfall of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan on the ICC T20I rankings for batters, as the Pakistani duo moved down one place each.
Babar Azam, who previously claimed the sixth position, slipped to number seven, while the eighth-placed Rizwan moved to number nine with 704 rating points. Australia's dynamic opener Travis Head maintained the first position with 855 rating points.
Shaheen Afridi Goes Down In ODI Rankings
Ace Pakistani speedster Shaheen Afridi witnessed a demotion in the updated ICC player rankings for bowlers in ODI cricket. While Sri Lanka's Maheesh Theekshana jumped four places up to number three, Shaheen moved one spot down, claiming the fourth position in the standings.
Babar, Shaheen, Rizwan To Feature In Tri-Series
Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan will be crucial players for Pakistan in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Ahead of the marquee event, these three players will be in action in the ODI Tri-Series where Pakistan will collide with New Zealand and South Africa on home soil. The much-awaited series starts on February 8 with a high-octane face-off between Pakistan and New Zealand at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
