The IPL is set to return to Indian soil, promising another electrifying cricket season. All the teams are all geared up and ready for another exciting season. But the ongoing Champions Trophy has become a mirror for fans and the franchises to check on the player’s form.

Following the same, the English players’ current form has been a concern for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans. As the players failed to dazzle on the big stage, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra questioned the team’s heavy dependence on English talent.

Aakash Chopra Questions RCB’s Move

As the IPL 2025 is set to commence on March 22, the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 becomes a reliable stage to watch the players' performances. However, England’s players have struggled, raising concerns for RCB, who made bold auction picks with Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, and Jacob Bethell.

Injury has already ruled Jacob Bethell out of the Champions Trophy, while Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone’s performances are adding to RCB’s concerns. In 2 matches, Salt scored only 22 runs. On the flip side, Liam Livingstone scored 24 runs in 2 matches and secured 3 wickets. Following this dismal performance, former Indian player Aakash Chopra questioned RCB’s reliance on their English players.

“Salt, Livingstone, Bethell, England - the RCB fans are worried as to what is happening. England are out (of the 2025 Champions Trophy), and would the England batters be able to save them this time? Their question is absolutely genuine. If the trio perform like this, what would happen to them?” Chopra said.

Aussie Talents Can Be Trusted

Apart from the English stars, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has also secured some Aussie superstars like Josh Hazelwood for 12.50 crore and Tim David for 3 crore. Though Hazelwood is yet to confirm his availability, Aakash Chopra thinks the franchise can rely on their exceptional abilities.

“It begs a question that you have played all your punts on England players. You have Tim David. You can play him. No one knows anything about Josh Hazlewood's availability as of now, although a little birdie told me that he would become available,” he added.

On March 22, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025 opener at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Before stepping into the upcoming season, the franchise announced Rajat Patidar as their new captain. As the franchise is still in search for their maiden trophy, fans is anticipating the dream moment under Patidar’s captaincy.
