After registering a historic whitewash in the ODI leg, Pakistan will take on South Africa in a two-match Test series. The much-awaited first Test of the series will be played at the iconic SuperSport Park in Centurion. 

Talking about Babar Azam, the stylish Pakistani batter is eyeing a massive milestone in the first Test against South Africa. The talismanic cricketer looked sublime in the ODIs, amassing 148 runs across outings at an outstanding average of 49.33. Although he was rested for the decider in the England Tests, Babar is expected to play a pivotal role in the Tests, considering his recent batting exploits.

As Pakistan gear up for the high-voltage first Test against South Africa, Babar Azam aims to break Saeed Anwar's illustrious batting record in this game. Notably, Babar has struck 221 Test runs in six innings in South Africa at an average of 36.83. 

On the other hand, Pakistan's legendary batter Saeed Anwar managed 239 Test runs in seven outings at an average of 34.14. Thus, Babar is on the verge of breaking his record and needs only 19 runs to script history.

Babar Azam's Recent Test Form

Regarded as Pakistan's best batter of this generation, Babar Azam has had a torrid run in Test cricket, amassing 352 runs at a horrendous average of 20.70. Although he has struggled with the bat, Babar's recent form in the ODIs is certainly a positive sign for him and might lead to his renaissance in the purest format.
