The latest ICC rankings update has swayed things up for Pakistan’s cricketers, with some players climbing the ladder and others sliding down the charts. Fakhar Zaman, who’s been off the field for months, still managed to move up a spot to 17th in ICC ODI Batter's Rankings with 623 points.
Shaheen Slips While Naseem Climbs
Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, and Saim Ayub held onto their positions at 20th, 22nd, and 23rd. Salman Ali Agha’s rise to 79th is a solid pat on the back, but Abdullah Shafique will be kicking himself after dropping to 98th following some forgettable outings.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam is still ruling the ODI batting world, keeping India’s Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at bay in second and third.
However, it’s not all sunshine for Shaheen Afridi. Once sitting pretty in third among ODI bowlers, he’s now dropped to fourth as Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana swooped in.
Haris Rauf, on the other hand, has stayed steady at 18th, while Naseem Shah is making quiet moves, climbing to 50th. Mohammad Wasim Jr also gained a couple of spots to land at 59th, but the rest of the bowling pack stayed put.
Babar Azam Climbs Five Spots In Test Rankings
Babar Azam’s rise in Test batting is worth a fist bump as he climbed five spots to 12th. Mohammad Rizwan is also inching closer to the top, moving to 19th. Salman Ali Agha and Shan Masood are turning heads too, jumping to 22nd and 45th, respectively. But for Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique, it’s been a rough patch as they dropped to 49th and 53rd.
Noman Ali and Shaheen Afridi took hits, slipping to 11th and 21st, while Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah saw minor declines. Abrar Ahmed, though, is a shining star, climbing to 58th in the rankings. At the top, Jasprit Bumrah is still the boss, followed by Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada.
Babar & Rizwan Rock In T20Is
Babar Azam’s move to sixth in T20I batting means he and skipper Mohammad Rizwan are keeping Pakistan firmly in the top 10. Meanwhile, Saim Ayub stays put at 57th. Australia’s Travis Head continues to dominate with England opener Phil Salt and Indian youngster Tilak Varma chasing.
Shaheen Afridi’s improvement to 21st among T20I bowlers is a bright spot, but Haris Rauf and Abbas Afridi need to hit the nets after slipping to 29th and 44th. West Indies’ Akeal Hosein remains the top T20I bowler with Adil Rashid and Wanindu Hasaranga close behind.
