After securing a clinical ODI series victory over South Africa, Pakistan are gearing up to face West Indies in a two-match Test series against West Indies on home soil. The series will mark Pakistan's final assignment of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Talking about Babar Azam, the veteran Pakistani batter, who played several impactful knocks in South Africa, will be key to the hosts' success in the high-voltage series.

Babar Azam Could Break Imran Khan's Massive Record vs WI

Meanwhile, the stylish batter from Lahore has a golden opportunity to break former captain Imran Khan's illustrious record in the West Indies series. Notably, Imran Khan is Pakistan's fifth-highest run-getter against West Indies in international cricket. The former captain has 1977 runs, while Babar is placed just below him, having amassed 1676 runs against the Men in Maroon across formats.

Thus, Babar Azam needs 302 runs to go past Imran and claim the fifth position on the list of legendary cricketers. Babar also has same number of fifties as Imran (11) against West Indies. So, if he scores one half-century in the upcoming series, he will surpass Pakistan's greatest cricketer in this criterion.

Babar Azam's Recent Test Form

Babar Azam, who was slammed for his prolonged lean patch in home Tests, played some glorious knocks against South Africa, scoring the most runs for Pakistan. He amassed 193 runs, including three fifties, at an average of 48.25 and could be a game-changer for Pakistan in the West Indies Tests.
