After an outstanding victory against arch-rivals Pakistan, Indian all-rounder and spinner Axar Patel was awarded the 'Impact' Player Award in the dressing room. For the unversed, India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets and 25 deliveries to spare following an outstanding show by their spinners.
Axar's Brilliant Spell That Kept Pakistan In Shackles
In a game that completely ended in India's favour, the Men In Blue steamrolled Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on the back of some outstanding performances from almost all their players, as spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel stood out.
Pakistan, after opting to bat first, could only manage 127 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets, where the spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and the left-arm spinner Axar Patel, were magnificent, giving away 18 runs each in their respective four-over spells.
The only difference was that Kuldeep picked three wickets, and Axar dismissed two of the Pakistani batters. While Kuldeep Yadav was given the Player of the Match award for his best-taking spell, where he dismissed the likes of opener Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Nawaz, Axar was brilliant in getting Fakhar Zaman and skipper Salman Ali Agha out, as Pakistan couldn't break free.
Patel Given Impact Player Award After Pakistan Game
After the game, which India won comfortably, in the dressing room video was released by the BCCI, Indian training assistant Nuwan Senevirathne handed the 'Impact Player of the Match' medal to Patel for his outstanding spell where he also took a brilliant catch. Following which, a rousing applause from all the players and members of the support staff filled the room with joy.
As for the chase, India completed the victory in just 15.5 overs courtesy of Abhishek Sharma's blistering 31 off 13 deliveries, whereas skipper Suryakumar Yadav turned up on the occasion, scoring 47 not out off 37 deliveries, taking India to a comfortable victory by seven wickets in the end.
As for India, their next encounter in the Asia Cup will be against Oman on September 19th at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. This will be their final game in the Group stage, following which the Super 4 stage will begin.
