Australia Women have finished their group stages of the Women's World Cup on a dominant note but without their captain Alyssa Healy at the helm. The AUS-W icon has missed two back-to-back matches after suffering a calf strain during a training session.

After Healy was injured post the Bangladesh match, she was ruled out of two matches in the group stage, and in her absence, all-rounder Tahlia McGrath has been leading the side, where Australia registered significant wins against England women as well as South Africa women.

Healy has been out since October 22 and is yet to recover from her injury, and Australia head coach Shelley Nitschke gave a major update on her fitness in the post-match conference following the team's win against South Africa.

AUS-W head coach keeps 50-50 hope for Healy

Australia's upcoming clash is a vital one, a crucial semi-final against India on October 30 at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium. Shelley, however, stressed that she is being assisted by the medical team right now and is hopeful that Healy might be back in the scheme of things to play the semi-final.

"Obviously she wasn't quite up to it tonight, but she'll continue to be assessed. We're really hopeful for the semi, but there are still a few days to play out before that. We're hopeful again, and she'll just continue to be assessed the closer we get to the game," Australia head coach Shelley Nitschke said during the press conference.

However, as she noted, the final decision would only be made just days ahead of the game, so the chances of Healy returning remain 50-50.

Healy's impact for AUS-W in Women's World Cup

Alyssa Healy has been in ravishing form in this World Cup, especially in her last two appearances against India and Bangladesh. In both instances, she scored two tons. 142 runs against India and 113 runs against Bangladesh. Healy's contributions in the top order are a vital factor that contributes to Australia's building of the innings and match-winning impact.

Without Healy, Georgia Voll and Phoebe Litchfield are taking the helm at the top, and in both instances, there has been a massive collapse in the batting as Australia lost wickets within the first three overs in both matches.
