Yasin Patel’s four-wicket haul with the ball, followed by Sayed Monib’s incredible hitting helped Kuwait secure a huge 6 wickets win over Singapore in the Asia Cup Qualifiers 2022.

Needing a huge win to keep their qualification dreams alive, Kuwait came onto the field with a purpose and chased down the target of 104 runs in just 7.5 overs. They stormed their way past Hong Kong to the top of the table with a much better NRR, as of writing.

Sayed Monib went bonkers with the bat.

After bowling out Singapore for just 104 on the board, Kuwait needed to chase down the target of 105 as early as possible to create a huge margin on NRR and put themselves in the best possible position to qualify for Group A in the Asia Cup 2022.

The openers started well and added 27 runs for the first wicket in the first two overs. Ravija Sandaruwan departed after scoring 28 off 14 and Kuwait were 52 for 4 in just four overs.

From Singapore's point of view, Vinoth Baskaran did try his best to put Kuwait on the backfoot, taking three wickets in quick succession. But Sayed Monib went bonkers as soon as he arrived and scored 32 off just 10 balls. Monib’s incredible hitting helped Kuwait chase the target in just 7.5 overs, which happens to be their biggest T20I win in terms of ball remaining.

They also improved their NRR from -0.421 to 1.627 after this chase and finished the qualifiers with four points

If all goes well in the game between UAE and Hong Kong, Kuwait will be joining India and Pakistan in Group A of the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE.

Kuwait’s bowling annihilated Singapore’s batting order

Earlier, Singapore won the toss and batted first. The pitch was gripping early on and the batters found it very difficult to build a momentum in the powerplay.  They could score 31 runs at the loss of three wickets in the powerplay.

Kuwait’s Yasin Patel totally destroyed the Singapore's batting top four, limiting them to 40 for 4 at the end of eight overs.

Janak Prasad tried his best to rebuild the innings and top scored for his side with 29 runs off 33 balls.

Patel finished with a figure of 4 for 22. Shiraz Khan was also impressive with the ball, taking three wickets for just 18 runs in his 4 overs quota. Sayed Monib also took a couple of wickets at the end to see Singapore being bowled out for paltry 104.

Brief Scores:

Singapore 104 all-out (19.5)

Janak Prakash 29 (33),  Aritra Dutta 21 (17);
Yasin Patel 4-22 (4), Shiraz Khan 3-18 (4)
