Bhanuka Rajapaksa, along with his skipper Dasun Shanaka, guided Sri Lanka to a six-wicket win over India in their latest Super Four Asia Cup 2022 clash. The win marked their second in succession in the crucial round, and their third overall this tournament.

After the match, Rajapaksa expressed his delight of beating a strong Indian line-up, and spoke about the team’s mindset ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.

“We have a really good chance of winning T20 World Cup” – Rajapaksa

At the post-match press conference, the Sri Lankan batter said that their side cannot can be termed as “underdogs” anymore. He added that they had a point to prove in this tournament after being shot out for just 105 against Afghanistan in their opening game.

Rajapaksa also stated that the team can now fancy its chances for the next month’s T20 World Cup. He said:

“We couldn’t be called underdogs anymore because we are here to compete as I said we want to justify our presence over in UAE and I think so far, we have done it quite well. And going to the T20 World Cup, we have a really good chance of clinching it. See any team would come with a hope of lifting that trophy, that would be the ultimate goal. We have a pretty strong side and we have good hope.”
