Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has termed the management's decision to recall ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in the T20I line-up as an excellent one.
Ashwin, 35, returned to the T20I team for the ongoing series against the West Indies. In 3 games so far, the veteran off-spinner has managed just three wickets but his economy rate (6.67) has been excellent.
Speaking on SPORTS18's show, Manjrekar said that Ashwin will form a perfect foil to an attacking spinner like Yuzvendra Chahal as has championed the art of defensive bowling.
"I think Ashwin's selection on this tour was an excellent one. In the last couple of years in the Indian T20 league, Ashwin has started making an impact. I like Ashwin when he's with somebody like Chahal. So, the onus is not on Ashwin to change the tide."
