Arjun Tendulkar out of IPL 2021, Mumbai Indians rope in Simarjeet Singh as replacement

All-rounder Arjun Tendulkar has been ruled out of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League and the franchise Mumbai Indians have roped in Delhi pacer Simarjeet Singh as his replacement.

The franchise said that the pacer has joined the squad after completing mandatory quarantine.

Arjun was bought by the franchise at the base price of Rs 20 lakh and like him, Simrajeet is also an uncapped player at the IPL level.

Overall, Simarjeet has played 15 T20s and has taken 18 wickets at an average of 20.50 and an economy rate of 7.76. He picked up 11 wickets at an economy rate of 5.65 in the 2020-21 edition of the domestic ODI competition Vijay Hazare Trophy.

The Mumbai Indians are desperate to get all things right towards the end of the tournament after things did not quite pan out as well as they would have planned. They have not been able to put pressure on the opposition bowling attack albeit their bowling attack has been impressive as ever.

The Mumbai Indians have won just five games out of the 11 games played so far and find themselves at the fifth position on the points table. They will be desperate to win all the remaining games to stake claim a spot in the first four positions on the table to get into the playoff stage.

Women BBL 2021-22 | Melbourne Renegades Women sign up Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues

The Melbourne Renegades Women have signed up India Women’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur and explosive batter Jemimah Rodrigues for the upcoming edition of the Women's Big Bash League scheduled to start on October 14. However, neither Harmanpreet nor Jemimah played any of the games in the recently-concluded limited-overs series against Australian Women and their lack of game time can be a point of concern. However, the Renegades Women have gone for the record and match-winning abilities. "I’m very excited to be here now and to be part of the Renegades. I think for me, the main goal over here will be just to pull back and play cricket, play some good cricket and enjoy what I’m doing. I know when I do that and when I’m in that headspace, I’m able to give it my best," Rodrigues said. "The goal is whatever happens, I want to give it my 100 percent each and every time I’m on the field… and hopefully (we can win) the cup for the Renegades. I’m super excited, I’m really looking forward to it and there’s so much that I’m going to learn, I’m sure about that." Harmanpareet and Jemimah’s inclusion in the Renegade Women camp is the latest addition of Indian Women stars after the Sydney Sixers picked explosive Indian opener Shafali Verma and left-arm spinner Radha Yadav, and the Sydney Thunder picked Verma’s partner Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma for their BBL campaign this season.
