The 23-year-old Ibrahim Zadran delivered a sensational knock for Afghanistan in the Champions Trophy clash against England. Anchoring the innings with a brilliant 177 off 146 balls, Zadran's composed yet aggressive approach saw him smash 12 fours and six sixes, propelling Afghanistan to a commanding total of 325/7 in 50 overs. 

Zadran built crucial partnerships, especially with Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai, ensuring stability before accelerating in the final overs. The Afghan opener displayed remarkable temperament and shot selection, capitalizing on England’s bowling attack despite early setbacks.

1. Highest individual score in Champions Trophy History

With his mammoth score that he posted against England, Zadran soared passed England's Ben Duckett who posted a scintillating 165 against Australia a few days back. He now tops the list of holding the highest individual score in the Champions Trophy after his sixth ODI century.

2. First Asian to score 150+ in Champions Trophy

Zadran also became the first Asian to score a milestone 150+ in the Champions Trophy and soared past India's Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar in the process who posted 141 runs as their highest in the Champions Trophy tournament.

3. Highest individual score in ICC Events for Afghanistan

Ibrahim Zadran also became the first individual from Afghanistan to score 177 runs in any of the ICC events. No other Afghani player has ever reached the milestone of attaining such a score in any of the ICC events.

4. First Afghanistan player to score a Hundred in World Cup and Champions Trophy

Notably, Zadran etched his name in Afghanistan's glory books with his 177 as he became the first Afghan player to score a ton in the World Cup as well as the Champions Trophy. The batter wreaked havoc on English bowlers as he bashed deliveries at a strike rate of 121.23.

5. Highest Individual score for Afghanistan in ODI

With his breath-taking innings, Ibrahim Zadran broke his own record of a 162-run knock against Sri Lanka to become the highest scorer for Afghanistan in ODIs surpassing Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 151 against Pakistan back in 2023.
