After a heart-breaking snub from the Duleep Trophy squad, veteran Indian bowler, Jaydev Unadkat is all set to play for Sussex in the English County Championship.

The pacer will join the squad for the last five matches of the Championship, and will join his fellow-Indian teammate, Cheteshwar Pujara, as he looks to impress the selectors for the upcoming Bangladesh series.

Heartbroken Unadkat to try his luck in English County

In a surprising move by the BCCI, Unadkat was excluded from the Duleep Trophy squads, and now in a bid to regain his place in the national team, the left-arm seamer has decided to showcase his skills in the English County, where the pitches will suit his type of bowling.

"I'm really happy to be back here. Hove is my second home. The team's been doing fantastic this season and, hopefully, in the second leg of the season, we're going to pull it through and get back in division one, where we belong! Cheers," Unadkat said in a video posted by Sussex.

Unadkat has been a stalwart in the Indian domestic setup, and he made his international comeback in 2022 in the Test series against Bangladesh. Ironically, it was after 12-years that he had made a Test return, having played his first game in 2010 against South Africa.

In his first stint with Sussex, the veteran bowler grabbed 11 wickets in just 4 matches, and grabbed everyone's attention.
