Aaqib Javed unhappy with Shoaib Malik's snub

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced its 16-member squad for the three-match ODI series in the Netherlands from August 16-21 and a 15-men side for the Asia Cup 2022, which will be played in the United Arab Emirates from August 27 to September 11.

Fast bowler Hasan Ali, all-rounder Imad Wasim and Veteran batter Shoaib Malik are among the notable absentees from Pakistan's squad. All three players were an important part of the Pakistan T20I team up till last year and competed for the team in the World Cup in October and November.

While Chief selector Muhammad Wasim has opened up about dropping pacer Hasan Ali, there has been no clarification behind Malik's absence.

Malik is the perfect fit for No.4, says Javed

Speaking about Malik's omission, ex-Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed thinks Malik is still the best choice middle-order batter for the Men in Green.

"Pakistan doesn't have a replacement for Shoaib Malik. He perfectly fits at the No.4 spot. Tell me is there anyone apart from him?" Aaqib Javed was quoted as saying by Pak. Tv.

Aaqib further said that the Baba Azam-led side could've tried the in-form left-hander Shan Masood if Malik is not part of the side.

"I have been saying this for a long time now that Shan Masood should be tested at this position. Viewing grounds of Australia, a batter playing proper cricketing shots would succeed there,"

Malik last represented Pakistan in Bangladesh after the T20 World Cup 2021, but since then he has been on the sidelines.
