  • Chris Jordan Backs Class Act James Vinces Prospects For Place In England Squad For T20 Wc 2022

Jordan backs 'class act' Vince's prospects of place in England squad

The opening encounter of The Hundred 2022 last evening saw James Vince take centre stage for the defending champions Southern Brave in their nine-wicket win over Welsh Fire.

Vince scored 71 off 41 balls, including eight fours and a six, and is coming off an excellent run in the T20 Blast, where he was the leading scorer this season with 678.

Brave's teammate Chris Jordan has backed his captain Vince to make good use of the opportunity in the ongoing 100-ball competition and book a place on the flight to Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup in October.

"He (Vince) has been in consistent form all summer. I'm not sure if you ask him whether he’ll be thinking about that at the moment as he's concentrating on Southern Brave but whatever comes on the back of that, comes on the back of it.

"Vincey is a very good leader and a top guy. He's so easy on the eye, especially when he plays that lovely cover drive. He's always a couple of steps ahead of the game. All the moves he makes seem to land," Jordan was quoted by The Cricketer.

England's T20I side is facing problems with the opening pair of Jason Roy and Jos Buttler struggling to score runs, especially the former.

Vince last featured for England back in January against West Indies but has been out of favour with the selectors, who are banking on the experience of Roy and Buttler to come good.

In 17 T20Is, the 31-year-old has scored 4,63 runs.

Overall, in 304 T20 matches, the Sussex-born has amassed 8,274 runs with four centuries and 49 half-centuries to his name.
