On Friday, October 4, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant celebrated his 27th birthday, a milestone moment for one of Indian cricket’s rising superstars. Away from national duty after India's Test series against Bangladesh, Pant marked the occasion surrounded by his close ones, while the cricketing fraternity flooded social media with heartfelt wishes.

Among those leading the charge was none other than former Indian captain and Delhi Capitals advisor, Sourav Ganguly.

Sourav Ganguly’s Warm Wishes for Rishabh Pant

Taking to Twitter, Ganguly, a cricketing legend in his own right, extended his birthday wishes to Pant, praising the young wicketkeeper.

“Wish Rishabh Pant @RishabhPant17 a very happy birthday. God bless him with a long and healthy life,” Ganguly tweeted, adding to the chorus of admirers who continue to laud Pant’s contribution to Indian cricket.

Ganguly, known for his own fearless leadership, holds Pant in high regard, not only as the captain of Delhi Capitals in the IPL but also as a critical player in India’s Test cricket setup.

As the birthday boy looks ahead to what promises to be another thrilling chapter in his career, it is clear that the former BCCI president's faith in him remains firm.

Pant's Role in India’s T20 World Cup Victory

Rishabh Pant’s return to form couldn’t have come at a better time. After being selected for the T20 World Cup in June, the southpaw silenced his critics with a game-changing performance that was instrumental in India lifting the trophy in Barbados.

With his ability to turn a game on its head, Pant’s inclusion in the squad was vital, and his contribution reaffirmed his value as a match-winner.

Proving His Mettle in the Test Arena

However, Pant’s heart belongs to Test cricket. After taking a brief break, he made his much-anticipated return to the format during the Duleep Trophy and later in the Test series against Bangladesh.

Wasting no time, Pant showed that form is temporary, but class is permanent by scoring a match-winning hundred in his first comeback Test, once again proving his critics wrong.

Pant, who is rested for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, is expected to play a huge role in India’s forthcoming Test series against New Zealand, starting October 16.

With his explosive batting and sharp wicketkeeping, Pant will be a key figure as India prepares for a gruelling cricketing season, including a tour to Australia, where they will be aiming for a third consecutive Test series win.
