The Chennai Super Kings are currently playing against the Delhi Capitals in the 17th mtach of IPL. There are rumours that this might be the last game of the legend of the franchise, MS Dhoni.
The fact that MS Dhoni's family members are present to witness the game has sparked these talks. However, if we take a look at the decisions by the management, there have been indications that the match against DC might be his last ever appearance on the cricketing field.
3. Calling Ayush Mhatre For Trials
If MS Dhoni retires during the middle of the tournament, CSK will get a chance to replace him with a batter. In a recent news it was heard that the franchise called young, Ayush Mhatre for trials. It could be that the management are keeping their options open. If MSD retires after the match against DC or even further during the tournament, they will have a batter ready to replace him.
2. Giving Devon Conway Game Time
From the beginning of the tournament, it seemed like Devon Conway was a not a part of the franchises' initial plan. However, for the DC match due to failure of the top order and in search of a better team chemistry, they brought in the Kiwi opener. Besides looking for a balanced composition, these could also be to allow game time for Conway, so that, if MSD leaves the field the New Zealand keeper will take his place immediately.
1. Will Play The Last Game At Chepauk
Before a few years, MS Dhoni was heard saying that he aims to play his last IPL game at the home ground of the Chennai Super Kings, MA Chidambaram Stadium. We have known that when MS feels that he is failing to deliver, he immediately leaves the spot for the future generation. With CSK already struggling it could be that, MS retires early in the season and allows the team to gel for the season and revamp their journey in the tournament.
