India is currently in a tour to Australia. They will be playing a five match Test series down under. Out of these five games, the two teams are already three match down. The series is currently stationed at 1-1.

Although there was not much action during the final day of the game, the turn of events after the match has surprises quite a few Indian fans. The veteran Indian spinner and one of the biggest assets of the team in Test cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin has announced retirement from all forms of international cricket. Well, as said by the all-rounder has stated, he will continue to play cricket at club level but in Indian jersey this was his last appearance.

The legendary Indian spinner and the highest wicket taker for the nation in Test cricket, Anil Kumble announced his retirement during the Australia tour of India in 2008. Ahead of the third Test of the series at New Delhi, Kumble announced that he will no longer be donning the Indian jersey. Notably, Kumble was the captain of the Test time at that time, he passed the responsibilities on the MS Dhoni at that time. In 132 matches, the Indian legend picked up 619 wickets at an average of 29.65 before hanging up his boots.

MS Dhoni announced his retirement during India tour of Australia in 2014. He announced his retirement while being the captain of the team after the third Test of the series. As Dhoni hung up his boots he passed on the captaincy torch to Virat Kohli. During his career, MS Dhoni played 90 Test matches and scored 4,876 runs in them at an average of 38.09

The latest addition to this list is Ravichandran Ashwin. He has announced his retirement from international cricket after the 3rd Test of India tour of Australia 2024-25 at the Gabba in Brisbane. He walked out from the international arena as the second highest Test wicket taker for India. If we look at his career, Ashwin has played 106 Test matches with 537 wickets at an average of 24.01. Besides being a brilliant bowler, Ashwin was also good with the bat. He scored 3,503 runs in his 106 matches at an average of 25.76 along with six centuries.
