Rohit Sharma has been a legend in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has etched his name in the history books with a hall of fame IPL journey. Moreover, he has also won 5 league titles with Mumbai Indians and all 5 of them came as the captain of the franchise.
On Thursday, prior to the start of the Mumbai Indians Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2025 match, BCCI President, Roger Binny presented a special award to the former MI captain, Rohit, but the question is, why did he received the memento.
Why did Rohit Sharma receive award from Roger Binny?
Rohit Sharma has been associated with the league since its inception and alongside Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni he is the only player who has participated in the IPL for 18 straight seasons, and hence, the IPL decided to honour him as they presented him with an award for his brilliant journey.

Rohit Sharma's IPL career
In the inaugural season, Rohit was bought by the Deccan Chargers and Rohit won his maiden IPL title in the 2009 edition. After three years with DC (2008-2010), Rohit was roped in by Mumbai Indians in 2011 and it changed the course for him and the franchise.
From 2013 onwards, Rohit became the captain of MI and he led them to five IPL titles in 10 years time before he was removed from the captaincy and Hardik Pandya became the skipper in 2024.
