Delhi Capitals Women are all set to light up the WPL 2025 stage as the tournament kicks off on February 14. After narrowly missing out on the title in previous seasons, the Capitals are determined to convert regular-season dominance into ultimate glory.

Under the leadership of Meg Lanning, the squad boasts a brilliant mix of international stars, emerging domestic talent, and versatile all-rounders ready to adapt to any game situation.

The Strong Overseas Contingent Of Delhi Capitals

At the heart of the squad is captain Meg Lanning, a proven international powerhouse known for her leadership qualities and batting skills. Her experience will be pivotal in setting the tone at the top of the order, while her leadership will help navigate high-pressure situations.

Alongside Lanning, the squad features key overseas signings such as Alice Capsey and Annabel Sutherland. Alice Capsey can be a strong addition as a bowling all-rounder to the team. The 20-year-old has picked 13 wickets in her 8 innings at an economy rate of 7.22 proving her worth in the shortest format.

Annabel Sutherland needs no introduction with her fiery spells and batting abilities. She adds depth both as an all-rounder and a bowler, capable of shifting gears when the situation demands. In the recently concluded Women's Ashes, Sutherland racked up a massive 163 proving her worth as a top-order batter too. Sutherland has featured in 42 T20I matches, scoring 157 runs at a strike rate of 138.94 and taking 32 wickets.

Jess Jonassen, an experienced bowler with an eye for breakthroughs, further bolsters the overseas contingent of the Capitals. She has been in stellar form recently. Jess Jonassen has played 105 T20I matches, taking 96 wickets at an average of 19.63 and an economy rate of 5.76. Her best bowling performance is 5/12, with three 4-wicket hauls in T20I cricket.

Stability In The Batting Line-Up

Delhi Capitals’ batting unit is built to combine aggression with solidity. Shafali Verma offers dynamic stroke play and aggressive flair, capable of setting the stage with a brisk start alongside Meg Lanning. Jemimah Rodrigues will bring the middle-order firepower and will thus add further stability ensuring that the team maintains momentum.

Minnu Mani and Capsey can also work with the bat to anchor the lower-middle order. The wicketkeeping duties are handled by Taniya Bhatia, whose quick glovework and handy lower-order batting add another layer of balance.

The Strong Bowling And All-Rounder Lineup

In the pace department, Arundhati Reddy and Jess Jonassen are set to lead the charge with their ability to extract movement and deliver in crucial phases. Notably, Jonassen can be handy with the bat too building the middle order strength for the Lanning-led side.

Radha Yadav and Titas Sadhu round out the pace unit, offering varied pace and death bowling expertise to turn the momentum in crucial moments in T20 games. Alice Capsey will be a crucial all-rounder in DC because of her spin skills. She can help the pace unit alongside batting to round off a strong start for the team in WPL 2025.
