The 2023 World Cup is the new trend that's surfacing through the vessels of cricket fans. We've been treated to some epic clashes so far with spectacular performances from the stars of various constellations. Moving on to October 10 i.e. Tuesday, a doubleheader awaits us with England rubbing shoulder with Bangladesh in the inital encounter at HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala, slated to begin at 10:30 AM IST.

The two teams kicked off the tournament in contrasting tone with the defending champions getting drubbed and the Asian side witnessing a triumph. In an eye-opening performance, New Zealand thrashed England in the competition's inaugural encounter. The Three Lions were only allowed to score 282 runs in the first innings, which the Kiwis chased down for the loss of just one wicket.

Bangladesh, on the other side, comprehensively defeated Afghanistan in their first meeting. They were able to limit the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led team to only 156 runs thanks to disciplined bowling. The meager score was easily surpassed courtesy of half-centuries from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Having said, let us have a quick glance through the predicted XI of Bangladesh versus England to be played on Tuesday.

Openers: Tanzid Tamim and Litton Das.

After regular chop and changes in the opening combination during the 2023 Asia Cup, Bangladesh opted for Litton Das and Tanzid Tamim to do the job of facing the hard new ball. Litton, is a gem of his own kind and can be a threat to any bowler on his day. He garnered 577 runs in just 13 innings in ODIs in 2022 with an impressive average of 52.45.

Joining him is a young gun, Tanzim Tamim who showed his calibre with the bat during the Warm-up games. He notched up a brilliant 84 off 88 balls against Sri Lanka during the second warm-up game that set the tone for a chase of 264 runs target.

Middle-Order: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy

Najmul Hossain Shanto has been in a dream run during the calendar year 2023. Firstly, he took the Asia Cup to a storm with his consistent run-scoring abilities but was unfortunate to get ruled out for the latter half. But when he returned to the set-up during the World Cup, the elegant batter picked up from where he left off.

Mushfiqur Rahim is an experienced bloke who is an important asset to this team. Whenever the team is in trouble, the wicketkeeper-batter ensures that the opponent undergoes a stiff hurdle to demolish his side. The middle-order possesses much depth as a watchful batter in Towhid Hridoy tends to shine against the world-class bowlers. He's a prodigy for the Asian nation and with time, the diamond is only going to shine brighter.

All-rounders: Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah Riyad

Bangladesh heavily relies on their spin bowling all-rounders and such was the case against Afghanistan in their first game of the World Cup. Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were not easy to be tackled and the pair worked in tandem to wreak havoc in the Atalans' line-up. In recent times, Mehidy is seen to bat up the order and this has improved his batting numbers exponentially.

Just ahead of the quadrennial tournament, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided to bring back experienced Mahmudullah Riyad into the set-up. He has taken the role of a finisher in the lower-middle order and increases the batting depth without affecting their bowling formidability. He also adds value to the team with some finger spin.

Bowlers: Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman

There's no reason why Bangladesh management would tinker with their bowling unit as they performed excessively well in the last game. Under the guidance of the great Allan Donald, the Bangladesh pacers have sharpened to a great extent. Mustafizur Rahman has found his form with both the hard and soft ball while Taskin Ahmed remains to be the leader of the pack. And joining them is Shoriful Islam who plays a second fiddle and does not hesitate to step toe to toe against the opposition.
