South Africa stockpiled 428 runs in their competition opener, recording the highest-ever total in World Cup history.  The Lankan bowlers also let them down after Pakistan overhauled a total of 345 runs in match 8 of the mega-event. Currently they are ranked in the seventh position of the points table and hope to earn their first victory.

How often have one witnessed Australia drowning at the ninth position of the points table in an ICC event. Moreover, it's the World Cup event and the Aussies are struggling to find their right combination. They had their injury setbacks in the lead upto the World Cup.

The Pat Cummins-led community were pushed back to the wall on their first game against India. They were in a good position when the bowlers pushed the scoreboard to 2-3 within a couple of overs. But a 165-run knock between KL Rahul and Virat Kohli denied them maiden triumph in the coveted event. The Aussies went on to lose their game against South Africa and finds them winless after two encounters.

There's still time for the Kangaroos and they would hope to thrust back and peak. So let us find out how the predicted XI of Australia may sound like against Sri Lanka.

Openers: David Warner and Mitch Marsh.

There's nothing wrong with the top-order of Australia and the unit should continue with David Warner and Mitch Marsh at the top of the order. The southpaw scored three half-centuries against India in India during the recently occured three-match ODI series. 'The Bull' also blossomed in their opening game of the quadrennial event and should continue at the opening spot.

Mitch Marsh, on the other hand, has blown hot and cold with the bat in recent times. He has replaced injured Travis Head at the top spot and shall fulfil the responsibility once again.

Middle Order: Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis

The Australia middle order relies heavily on Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. Both batters complement each other nicely and has the ability to build an innings based on a particular situation of the match.

Joining the tag team should be Josh Inglis, also the wicketkeeper of the side. Alex Carey was dropped in the last game and Inglis was included. But the keeper-batter has to bring out his A game in the international stature.

All-rounders: Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis

The two primary all-rounders for Australia are Maxwell and Stoinis. Both of them are awesome strikers of the cricket ball and can storm around the park against any opposition in a given day.

Maxwell's finger spin will also be a key weapon for Australia as they play in Lucknow. Also, Stoinis has a good experience of these conditions and should come handy with the cutters.

Bowlers: Pat Cummis, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Adam Zampa

Australia have a set bowling unit that includes the three pacers - Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood. The former is the skipper whole Starc is renowned as Mr. World Cup due to his knack for delivering in the ICC events. Hazlewood is yet another experienced bloke and did shine against India in their first game.

Adam Zampa has not lived up to the expectations and Australia would be hoping that their primary spinner peaks in the remaining encounters.
