After the conclusion of the Test series, India and West Indies are all set to collide in a three-match ODI series starting this Thursday. The first ODI will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

India showcased their prowess in the Tests, outclassing the home side across departments. On the contrary, West Indies exhibited mediocrity with bat and ball, incurring a harsh home series defeat following their disastrous performance in the World Cup qualifiers. While India would like to sustain their dominance, the hosts would be keen to turn things around.

So, as both teams gear up for an intriguing contest, let's see what stats say about the iconic Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Kensington Oval, Barbados Ground Records

The Kensington Oval in Barbados has hosted 45 ODIs, with the first one played between West Indies and New Zealand on 23rd April 1985. The home side has had modest success at the venue, winning only 17 and losing 22 fixtures.

England hold the record for the highest-team total of 364/4, which they posted against West Indies in February 2019. Meanwhile, Ireland possess the infamous record for the lowest team total of 91, which they scored against Australia in the 2007 World Cup.

Barbados hasn't really been a batters' paradise, with the scoring rate reading a modest 4.96. However, around 30 runs are scored per dismissal, a fact that suggests that it hasn't entirely been a bowling-friendly surface.

Barbados has been a happy hunting ground for the teams batting second, who have won 25 matches as compared to 19 by those batting first. So, the toss-winning team will likely bowl first in this fixture.
