The SA20 keeps on delivering quality games as we await another with SunRisers Eastern Cape (SEC) locking horns against Joburg Super Kings (JSK) on 24th January from 9 PM IST at the St George's Park, Gqeberha in Match 19. Both sides have faced each other five times in the competition, so let's find out who has the upper hand.
SunRisers Eastern Cape
After being down and out with three consecutive losses, SunRisers Eastern Cape rocked back in style with three bonus point wins on the trot courtesy of their much-improved performances. Skipper Aiden Markram has been incredible in leading his side from the front, while Marco Jansen, with his all-round skills, has been terrific. They are currently third on the table with 15 points from six of their completed matches, whereas they have only won three games so far. SunRisers have fought tooth and nail to be here with influential performances in the last few games. Previously, they defeated Pretoria Capitals by a hefty margin of 52 runs courtesy of Markram's 68*, whereas the bowlers, especially Jansen, were fabulous.
Joburg Super Kings
After starting on a high, Joburg Super Kings have lost the momentum in the last two matches with batters, except Jonny Bairstow, struggling for runs. Few of their bowlers, meanwhile, have been a touch expensive, which has been a problem for them. On the tally, they are fourth-positioned with 10 points, as they have two wins and one washed-out game. Super Kings had to face the loss versus Paarl Royals in the final over after posting 146 in the first innings, which they ultimately couldn't defend. Joburg's only consistent batter has been Bairstow, while captain Faf du Plessis is regaining his form. Also, Donovan Ferreira is giving his off-break bowling a real chance this season, and with his bat, he is already explosive.

The defending champions SunRisers Eastern Cape last faced Joburg Super Kings in last year's SA20 2024 group stage match at the Wanderer's Stadium in Johannesburg, where the home side were stunned by the visiting pacers to wrap them for just 78.
Wayne Madsen from Joburg played a fine hand of 32 from 23 balls, while the rest of the batters struggled against the extra pace and bounce of Daniel Worrall (3/20), Marco Jansen (2/13), Beyers Swanepoel (2/21) and Patrick Kruger (3/8).
SunRisers finished the game in just 11 overs, with Dawid Malan scoring 40* (32) to help his side secure a bonus point convincingly.
