While it still remains a big doubt whether Rohit will be featuring in the team for the upcoming Ranji clash. However, in this article we take a look a look at Mumbai's strongest XI for their match against J&K:
Ajinkya Rahane is expected to continue to lead the team as their captain, despite Rohit Sharma's return to the domestic circuit after nearly a decade. The last Ranji appearance he had was in November 2015. Rohit will be replacing Siddesh Lad in the XI, who will make way for the experienced opener. Along with him, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was spotted training hard, will open the batting. He would look to keep his form intact after being rested from the T20Is against England.
With the openers decided, young wicketkeeper-batter Ayush Mhatre will bat at number 3. He slammed a fascinating century in the last clash against Services and is expected to continue his exploits. Looking for a Test comeback, Shreyas Iyer will add depth to the middle order. Iyer, who has had a phenomenal 2024 will aim to bring his usual charm and magic to the game.
The bowling attack will be led by Shardul Thakur, supported by Mohit Avasthi in the pace department. Mumbai's spin options look strong with Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian along with Himanshu Singh, both of whom are capable of causing problems with their bowling. With a mix of experienced seniors and promising youngsters, Mumbai looks ready to challenge the teams.
