Harry Brook To Bring Jofra Archer? England's Probable XI For 3rd ODI Against Australia

As dawn breaks over the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, excitement builds for the third ODI between England and Australia on September 24. With Australia already leading the series 2-0, England find themselves under pressure to bounce back and keep the series alive.

Australia have dominated the series so far, starting with a commanding seven-wicket win in the first game, followed by a solid 68-run victory in the second. In the last match, Australia set a target of 271 runs, thanks to Alex Carey’s steady 74 and a well-crafted half-century by captain Mitch Marsh. England’s response fell flat as they were bowled out for 202 runs.

Despite Jamie Smith’s top score of 49, they couldn’t withstand the Australian bowling attack led by Mitchell Starc, who took three crucial wickets, while Josh Hazlewood, Aaron Hardie, and Glenn Maxwell chipped in with two wickets each.

Why Should England Drop Brydon Carse?

With the series slipping away, England’s captain Harry Brook faces a critical decision. Jofra Archer, the team’s pace spearhead, could be the game-changer England needs. Brydon Carse, who played in the second ODI, struggled despite taking three wickets, conceding 75 runs at an economy rate of 7.50.

His wickets came more from the batters’ errors than his own skill. Brook might be tempted to bring Archer back into the playing XI, hoping his pace and precision can rattle the Australian lineup. With a possible change in the bowling lineup, England's probable XI for the third ODI could see Jofra Archer rejoining the team.
