The Peshawar Zalmi has been one of the most consistent teams in the league. They have made it to the playoffs in all the seasons and have managed to win the title once. This season, under the leadership of Babar Azam, the Zalmi will be looking to win the PSL title for the second time in their history.

The campaign for Babar and his men starts with the second match of the tournament against the Quetta Gladiators. Ahead of the game, let us look deeper into the squad and analyze their chances in the tournament.

Strength of Peshawar Zalmi

Strong and experienced batting-order

Babar Azam will have the likes of Rovman Powell, Asif Ali, Saim Ayub, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Mohammad Haris, and Hasebullah to play with in this edition. The batting order has absolute power, and Azam will anchor them. There is a power-hitter for every position, which will allow the management great flexibility and depth. 

Well-rounded and flexible bowling attack

With a firm and assertive batting order, the Zalmi are backed with an equally adept bowling attack. Babar Azam will have a bowler at his disposal for every situation and playing condition during the tournament. There is an excellent variety, and bowlers are suited for most of the roles in a T20 game. The Zalmi bowling attack will be the one to watch in the tournament.


Weakness of Peshawar Zalmi

Lack of depth in the all-rounder section

There is a great depth in the Zalmi squad for the PSL 9. But the only apparent weakness is the need for more depth in the all-rounder section. Aamer Jamal and Dan Mousely are the squad's only quality and reliable all-rounders. So, the team might suffer if one of their specialists suffers an injury or is not in the best of form.

The Zalmi batting line-up has a lot of power hitters in it. Babar Azam is the only man who could anchor and build the innings. So, there is a lack of grafters, and much will depend on Azam. In matches where Babar fails to deliver, the team might lack a man around whom the innings could be built.
