Mark Chapman Out, Star Opener In; New Zealand's Probable XI For 2nd ODI vs Pakistan

The first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand saw the Men in Green fall short by 73 runs, with New Zealand posting a challenging total of 344/9. Despite early struggles at 50/3, a brilliant partnership of 199 runs between Mark Chapman (132) and Daryl Mitchell (76) steadied the Kiwis’ innings. Pakistan’s chase faltered as wickets fell consistently, and they were bowled out for 271.

Looking ahead to the second ODI at Seddon Park in Hamilton, New Zealand will aim to maintain the momentum and bag the win. However, with a key player ruled out, the Kiwis will have some shift in their lineups. Let's take a look at what should be their ideal lineup against Pakistan.

In his batting career against Pakistan, Tim Seifert boasts an average of 36.18 across all formats. Notably in Seddon Park, his batting average is 127 across all formats which indicates his adaptability with the pitch and hence, he can be a strong contender in place of Mark Chapman.

Will O' Rourke To Make Way For Ben Sears?

William O'Rourke scalped a wicket in the 1st ODI but was costly for the team. Though he is a decent bowler with a considerable pace that can shift the momentum of games, Ben Sears can be a better option for the 2nd ODI. 

Ben Sears have a good stat of bagging two wickets in the single T20I he played at Seddon Park. Sears boasts an economy rate of 7.00 and a strike rate of 12 in Hamilton. Overall, trying out Sears in place of Rourke could be a good experiment which can help refine the young talent's pace credibility.
