Jansen With New Ball; Markram, Stubbs At Top? Sunrisers Eastern Cape's Probable XI vs MI Cape Town

The two-time SA20 champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, will take in the MI Cape Town in the first match of the 2025 season. This match will be played at the home ground of the Eastern Cape at St. George's Park in Gqeberha, South Africa, on January 9 at 9:00 PM IST.

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape have won both the seasons of the tournament so far. The Aiden Markram-led side will be eager to defend the title for a second time, and for that, they will be keen to get off to a winning start. As they prepare to face the challenge from MICT in the inaugural match of the season, here is a look at their probable XI for the game. 

Zak Crawley To Accompany The Skipper At The Top

Aiden Markram has recently been in excellent batting form in the international arena. He will look to translate that form into this tournament while opening the innings for the team. With the English opener, Zak Crawley, on the side, it is expected that he will combine with the Eastern Cape skipper at the top.

Stubbs To Lead The Middle Order

There is a bit of variety in the middle order of the Eastern Cape. In all probabilities, the talented young South African batter Tristan Stubbs will come out at number three for them. Along with Stubbs - Tom Abell, David Bedingham, and Jordan Hermann will balance stability and firepower in the middle order. 

Jansen To Lead The Bowling Of The Sunrisers

Marco Jansen will be the lead pacer for the Eastern Cape. Alongside Jansen, Baartman and Gleeson will be there to balance out the attack in all the phases of the game. Simon Harmer and Roelof van der Merwe will share the team's spin department responsibilities.
