These two matches hold significant importance for PBKS, GT, DC and RCB, four teams that are having an intense battle in the race to IPL 2025 playoffs. 

As the IPL 2025 inches towards its business end, here's a look at how today's matches will impact the playoffs chances of all teams. 

How Can RR vs PBKS And DC vs GT Matches Affect IPL 2025 Playoffs Scenarios?

If RR defeat PBKS and DC beat GT

  • RR have already been eliminated from the tournament and this win will take them to eight points, powering them to eighth in the points table. Meanwhile, if PBKS incur a defeat, they will remain in third position with 15 points. In such a scenario, RCB (17 points) will confirm their qualification for the playoffs. 
  • On the other hand, if DC emerge victorious vs GT, they will get themselves promoted to either third or fourth place (depending on NRR) at the end of the day.  

If RR defeat PBKS and GT beat DC

  • In this case, GT will dethrone RCB and claim the top spot in the IPL 2025 points table. MI, DC and PBKS can reach a maximum of 18, 17 and 19 points, but they have their games coming up against each other; so, this victory will confirm a playoffs berth for RCB and GT.  

If PBKS defeat RR and DC beat GT

  • If PBKS and DC win today, they will finish the day with 17 and 15 points, respectively. In that case, none of the teams will confirm their qualification for the playoffs. MI, DC, PBKS, RCB and GT will be the frontrunners for the top four spots. 

If PBKS defeat RR and GT beat DC

  • In this case, PBKS and GT will take their respective tallies to 17 and 18 points, respectively. This will ensure the playoff qualification of RCB, PBKS and GT, with MI and DC battling for the remaining slot.
