The Australian young opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has shown a lot of promise with aggressive and uninhibited batting style in the Big Bash League. Even during his team withe Delhi Capitals during the IPL 2024 he impressed a lot of the fans with his massive hitting.
With the IPL 2025 mega auction coming up, there has been a lot of craze about JFM's demand during the event. It is expected that most of the franchises will be looking to include an explosive batter in their team during the auction. However, the Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions might not look to big for this Australian young star.
Here are three reasons that Chennai Super Kings will not big for Jake Fraser McGurk during the IPL 2025 meg auction -
1. JFM Does Not CSK's Style Of Play
Chennai Super Kings have always looked for steady batters at the top of their order. Batters who can be consistent with their contribution for the team have always been preferred by the franchise. Jake Fraser-McGurk with his ultra aggressive batting style does not suit CSK's style of play. He might be a bit of out place for a team that generally looks for a solid and steady opener at the top.
2. Volatile Form Of JFM
With his over aggressive batting approach, Jake Fraser-McGurk often fails to maintain his form. There have bee times that even after scoring big in a game, JFM has not carried the momentum ahead. Chennai Super Kings generally look for players who could be consistent contributors for the team. In this case, the volatile nature of McGurk's form does not make him an ideal fit in the CSK set up.
3. CSK's Fixed Target
Chennai Super Kings have often looked to retain their core over the years. One of the main template in this case has been the repurchasing of players who have contributed for them earlier. Keeping this mind, the way Devon Conway has contributed for the franchise makes him one of the prime targets of CSK. If they go hard after Conway, then with their budget constraints and considering their team combination there is a little chance that CSK will go after Jake Fraser-McGurk.
