The IPL 2025 mega auction is coming to a close. All the teams have given their best to include the best players as per their demands. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru who have mostly have some average auction previously have put in a better effore and have assembeled a good looking team.
As we look at the RCB team, we come across three players who were a part of the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.
1. Tim David
The Australian big hitting batter was a part of the Mumbai Indians till IPL 2024. Tim David has played 34 matches for the five-time IPL champions and has scored 658 runs in them at a strike rate of 171.40 with an average of 29.90. The Mumbai Indians bought him for a price of INR 8.25 Cr ahead of the last edition of the tournament.
Notably, in this mega auction, Tim David has been sold for INR 3 Cr. Thus he has seen a dip of nearly 64% in his IPL salary. Thus he is back to the franchise which introduced him to the Indian Premier League.
2. Nuwan Thushara
The Sri Lankan pacer was included into the Mumbai Indians squad ahead of IPL 2024 for a price of INR 4.80 Cr. Known for his death-over exploits, Nuwan Thushara picked up eight wickets in seven matches during the last edition of the tournament. He conceded runs at an average of 9.88.
The impact that Nuwan Thushara had was below expectation for the franchise and hence they let them go. However, RCB was looking to assemble a balanced bowling attack for the upcoming edition of the tournament. Hence they went after Nuwan Thushara and inlcuded him in the side for INR 1.60 Cr. The bowler has taken a price cut of nearly 67% and will be a key addition when we take their death bowling into account.
3. Romario Shepherd
The Guyanese all-rounder was a part of the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024. Romario Shepherd was used as a lower order power hitter and middle and death phase bowler. In five matches for the Mumbai Indians, Shepherd has scored 57 runs at a strike rate of 271.40. With the ball Shephered picked up a single wicket in 13 oves while having an economy of 13.25. The numbers were way below expectations and hence MI released them.
