The Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians are considered the biggest rivals in the Indian Premier League. These two franchises have often been the biggest contenders of the trophy in most of the seasons. Notably, the two teams have ten IPL trophies between them.
While the rivalry between the two teams is so intense, there have been players who have played for both the franchises in the tournament. As a result of the swaps in the auctions, there have been quite a few players who have ended up playing for both teams. During the IPL 2025 auction also, we saw a few player swaps. Here are three ex-CSK players who will be seen donning the MI blues during IPL 2025.
3. Karn Sharma
The Mumbai Indians acquired the services of Karn Sharma for INR 50 Lakhs during the IPL 2025 auction. He has part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru from IPL 2022 to IPL 2024. However before that Sharma represented the Chennai Super Kings form 2018 to 2021.

Incidentally, before going to CSK, Sharma represented the Mumbai Indians in nine matches during IPL 2027.

The Kiwi all-rounder cost INR 2 Cr for the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 auction. Notably, Mitchell Santner has only represented the Chennai Super Kings before this in the league. He was bought by the Super Kings during IPL 2018 auction for his base price of INR 50 Lakhs.

During his time with the Super Kings, Santner played 18 matches and picked up 15 wickets in them while having an economy of 6.92. While Mumbai Indians will hope to bring in depth and variety to their team composition with the induction of Santner in the mix-up, the player will hope to spend more time on the field with MI than he did for CSK.
1. Deepak Chahar
The Indian medium pacer has been bough for INR 9.25 Cr by the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 auction. Just before coming to Mumbai Indians, Deepak Chahar was an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings.
