The Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals dropped a hint on whom they'll retain ahead of the retention deadline day. The IPL 2025 mega auction is shaping up to be a spicy affair with some interesting buys on the cards.

As per reports, the Delhi Capitals franchise will retain the Indian core of Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, and will try and buy back Aussie sensation, Jake Fraser-McGurk and South Africa's Tristan Stubbs.

Now as per ESPNCricinfo, SRH are planning to retain, captain Pat Cummins, Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma. Meanwhile, they are planning to use RTM for Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Now, with the retention list almost finalized for both the sides, we look a 3 big names from DC and SRH, who might go unsold in mega auction.

3) Aiden Markram

The former skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Aiden Markram has had two poor IPL seasons and looks a pale shadow of himself. Newly appointed skipper, Pat Cummins gave a long rope to Markram in IPL 2024, but the Proteas batter failed to impress.

In 11 matches, he could only score 220 runs. While every other SRH batter was striking at nearly 200, Markram had a strike-rate of just 124.29. Markram will surely be released, and his previous IPL record is also not impressive for other teams to show interest in him.

In 44 matches, Markram has slamed just 995 runs, at 129.73, including 5 fifties. Teams in IPL look for power-hitting and Markram doesn't provide that. Hence, he might not be picked in IPL auctions.21

2) T Natarajan

Remember when everyone said that Natarajan is the future of India cricket? Well, that was almost 4 years ago, when he broke into the SRH ipl team.

Fast forward now, and Natarajan's game has been affected by multiple injuries. On his day, Nattu is a terrific bowler but injuries have marred his IPL and international career. Surprisingly, he was outstanding in IPL 2024 for the Sunrisers, picking up 19 wickets in just 14 matches, but don't think SRH will retain him.

Plus, will any team bid for an injury prone pacer? That's a difficult question to answer.

1) Mitch Marsh

An explosive batter for Australia, Mitch Marsh has failed to replicate the same impact for his teams in IPL. The year 2021 was a breakout one for the Aussie star as he helped his nation win the coveted T20 World Cup title and finished as the MVP of the tournament.

Seeing his exploits, Delhi Capitals bought him in 2022, and it is fair to say that he has been a big disappointment. In the last 3 seasons, he has only played 21 times with injury taking a toll on his body.

In those 21 matches, Marsh has contributed 440 runs, including 3 fifties. These are average starts for someone who was bought for INR 6.5 crores. DC will surely release him and will he be picked in the auction? Not sure about that.
