The high-octane opening game of the IPL 2024 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) could be a special one for premier Chennai Super Kings (CSK) allrounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is on the verge of a big feat versus the arch-rivals ahead of the marquee clash in Chennai.

As the MS Dhoni-led defending champions return to their den for a riveting opening encounter on March 22, their veteran left-arm spinner is about to achieve a landmark against RCB, becoming the bowler with the most wickets taken against the famed franchise in IPL's history.

Jadeja is two wickets shy of achieving the special feat and currently holds the joint-second spot in the list of top wicket-takers against RCB's powerhouse batting line-up, featuring modern-day legend Virat Kohli and South African stalwart and RCB captain Faf du Plessis as well as Australian maverick Glenn Maxwell.

Jadeja On The Brink Of Special Feat Vs RCB

Jadeja, who has taken 26 wickets from 31 matches played against the RCB franchise, holds the second spot alongside journeyman IPL pacer Sandeep Sharma. He is behind former Mumbai Indians (MI) off-spinner and numero uno RCB bowling nemesis Harbhajan Singh with 27 scalps.

If Jadeja gets two wickets in the IPL 2024 opener, he will become the bowler with most wickets taken versus RCB, which has always boasted of a remarkable list of batters that have imposed themselves on several bowlers in the last 16 seasons of the league.

Among active bowlers, MI's ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah also stands the chance to leapfrog his former teammate Harbhajan when he confronts the RCB batting unit during IPL 2024.

Bumrah is currently fourth from the top with 24 wickets taken against the Bangalore rivals from 18 matches.
