Match 69 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 will see Mumbai Indians clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their final home game at Wankhede on Sunday. This is a high-stakes encounter for Mumbai given their chances of a playoff qualification depending on the result of the match, with several teams on the same points.

Hyderabad, who are out of the competition will look to finish the season on a high, and also avenge their earlier defeat in the season at the hands of Mumbai.

Let's have a look at the playing XI that could take the field for respective franchises.

Mumbai Indians (MI)

Openers

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan

Rohit Sharma did show glimpses of his class against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), however, he failed to make it big after a brisk start. Sharma is known to be a player, who brings his best in crunch matches, and MI will hope to see their skipper dish out a special knock.

Ishan Kishan has been one of the most consistent players this season. Kishan, unlike last season, has shown control and composure in the middle, amassing 425 runs.

Middle-Order

Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Hrithik Shokeen

MI's batting depends a lot on Suryakumar Yadav, who has been their star performer. With 486 runs, Yadav shows no signs of slowing down. Nehal Wadhera after a good run initially has failed to carry on his momentum and needs to put his hand up in the absence of Tilak Varma.

Both Cameron Green and Tim David failed to cross the finish line against LSG but will be back on home turf this time around, where they have looted runs at will.

Hrithik Shokeen will want to also contribute with the bat, after a few failures.

Bowlers

Chris Jordan, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff, Akash Madhwal

One of the running problems this season for MI has been their death overs bowling, despite Chris Jordan's inclusion into the XI. Jordan, who is renowned for being a death-overs specialist has failed to live up to expectations.

Jason Benrendorff with the new ball has been phenomenal, while Akash Madhwal has been good in the middle. Piyush Chawla remains their most potent bowler, regardless of when he bowls in the match.

Predicted XI for Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Hrithik Shokeen, Chris Jordan, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendorff, and Akash Madhwal

Impact Players: Ramandeep Singh, Vishnu Vinod, Tristan Stubbs, Kumar Kartikeya, Raghav Goyal

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Openers

Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi

Both Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi will be hopeful of wrapping up the season with a few runs under their belt. Tripathi has been a disappointment this season, given SRH's reliance on his experience.

Sharma has been good here and there, but overall could not replicate his form from last season.

Middle-Order

Aiden Markram(c), Heinrich Klaasen(w), Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, Abdul Samad

On paper, SRH's middle-order is explosive and scary, but they have anything but that. Only Heinrich Klaasen has managed to outperform himself, accumulating 430 runs, including a ton against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

SRH's most expensive buy, Harry Brook failed to leave a mark on the tournament and will be eager to prove detractors wrong in the last match.

Aiden Markram has just not clicked this season, and the pressure of captaincy is taking a toll on his batting. Abdul Samad and Glenn Phillips will enjoy batting at Wankhede given their power-hitting traits.

Bowlers

Kartik Tyagi, Mayank Markande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan

In the limited chances, Karthik Tyagi has been decent, if not for sloppy fielding, the bowler would have made an impact against RCB. Bhuvneshwar Kumar remains their best pacer, claiming 15 wickets.

SRH will most likely bring back Mayank Markande and T Natarajan. Markande's knowledge of Wankhede will be helpful, while Natarajan's pin-point could stop MI's heavy batting line-up.

Predicted XI for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram (c), Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Harry Brook, Glenn Phillips, Abdul Samad, Kartik Tyagi, Mayank Markande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and T Natarajan

Impact Players: Mayank Dagar, Nitish Reddy, Vivrant Sharma, Sanvir Singh, Akeal Hosein
