On December 15, the caravan would move from WBBL to the BBL. The 14th edition of Australia's premier franchise league will kickstart on December 15, with Perth Scorchers taking on Melbourne Stars.

Ahead of the upcoming season, this article will shed light on the SWOT analysis of all teams. This piece will focus on Melbourne Renegades, who won the BBL once in the 2018/19 season.

Melbourne Renegades' Squad For BBL 2024/25

Jacob Bethell (England), Josh Brown, Xavier Crone, Harry Dixon, Laurie Evans (England), Jake Fraser-McGurk, Marcus Harris, Mackenzie Harvey, Nathan Lyon, Fergus O'Neill, Kane Richardson, Tom Rogers, Gurinder Sandhu, Tim Seifert (New Zealand), Will Sutherland, Jon Wells, Adam Zampa. Signed replacement player: Hassan Khan (USA/Pakistan)

Strengths Of Melbourne Renegades

Big Power-Hitters At The Top

The Renegades have big power-hitters in their team that can bring them huge success. They have Jake Fraser-McGurk, who shone in BBL 2023/24 and also was a big hit in IPL 2024. Further, Tim Seifert and Jacob Bethell have also made a name for themselves.

Also, they have roped in Josh Brown, who is touted to open the innings with McGurk. The two can wreak havoc if unleashed from the first ball.

Great Bowling Line-Up

Other than the batting, the Renegades also have a great bowling unit. They have Tom Rogers, who was the Renegades' leading wicket-taker in the BBL 2023/2024 season. Further, the likes of Nathan Lyon, Kane Richardson, and Adam Zampa are there.

They have a balanced spin bowling attack as a few players like Nathan Lyon, who will not be with the side till the end of BGT, Zampa will take over. Similarly, they also have a great pace attack.

Weakness Of Melbourne Renegades

Lack Of Big Name In the Seamer's List

Shedding light on other teams, they have quality names in the seam department, which is crucial when you play in Australia. However, that is missing for Melbourne. The quality name they have there is Kane Richardson, who last featured for Australia in 2023.

Lack Of Power-Hitters Batters In The Middle-Order

Renegades have a solid opening pair but lack quality batters in the middle-order. They have Tim Seifert, but can't be over-dependent on a single player, who shone in CPL 2024. Further, Sutherland, Wells, and Evans are most the most explosive batters in the world and this is where the Melbourne team might have their issues in the upcoming season.
