The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 is knocking on the door and fans can’t wait for the fireworks to begin. The stage is set, the venues are locked and the players are ready to bring the heat from April 11.

With 30 league matches before we get to the business end, the Qualifier, Eliminators and the grand finale on May 18 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, it’s going to be non-stop action.

All six teams are packed with serious talent, but when it comes to scoring big runs, every franchise has that one batter who can take the tournament by storm. Let’s take a look at one batter from each PSL side who could end up as their leading run-scorer of PSL 2025.

Babar Azam isn’t just the highest run-scorer in PSL history, he is a run-producing machine. With over 3500 runs at an average of 45.50, he is as reliable as they come. His strike rate of 127.41 may not scream “T20 beast” but Babar’s game is about control and timing.

He anchors the innings, builds platforms and plays the long game. His 33 fifties and 2 centuries tell you one thing, once he is in, he is there for the long haul. On Pindi’s batting track, expect him to do what he does best which is stack up runs with ease.

James Vince has quietly built a solid record in the PSL. With 1166 runs in 45 innings at a strike rate of 136.69, he brings that classic English flair: timing over brute power, placement over slogging. His average of 27.76 might look modest but Vince often plays the role of powerplay enforcer, getting Karachi off to flying starts.

With 144 fours and 35 sixes, he’s no stranger to finding the boundary. The Kings will be counting on his experience and explosive stroke-play at the top, especially on true Karachi pitches. If Vince gets in early rhythm, expect him to do some serious damage this season.

Salman Agha might not have eye-popping PSL numbers yet but 2025 could be his breakout season. He is coming in hot after being named Pakistan’s T20I captain and has been in stunning international form, which means his confidence is sky-high.

A solid middle-order batter, he can build an innings and accelerate when needed. His average of 22.04 and strike rate of 119.95 don’t do justice to his current form and improved game. With more responsibility at United, expect those numbers to rise sharply.

Fakhar Zaman - Lahore Qalandars

Fakhar Zaman is Lahore’s go-to man. He is explosive, fearless and knows how to go big. With 2525 runs and a blazing strike rate of 140.27, he has been the heartbeat of Qalandars’ top order.

His 104 sixes show he is not just about finesse, he is a proper six-hitter. He takes on the new ball like it’s nothing and loves playing on flat decks. Lahore fans will be hoping for more Fakhar specials, and history says he delivers.

Mohammad Rizwan is the silent assassin of the PSL. He may not smash sixes every second ball, but he gets the job done. A terrific average of 41.43 and 20 half-centuries show how consistent he’s been.

He is the glue in Multan’s batting line-up, often batting through the innings and guiding chases. His strike rate of 127.48 is more than enough when paired with that level of consistency. Multan fans know, if Rizwan fires, the team thrives.

Saud Shakeel - Quetta Gladiators

Saud Shakeel is the new face of Quetta’s top order. In his debut PSL season in 2024, he impressed everyone with 323 runs at a strike rate of 141.66. He is a smart batter who picks his moments.

Whether it’s nudging singles or going big, he does it all seamlessly. He is the kind of player who won’t make headlines every day but will keep the scoreboard ticking. If he keeps this up, he could just end up as leading run scorer in PSL 2025.
