On December 6, India will lock horns against Australia in the 2nd match of the five-match series. It is a crucial game as India lead 1-0, but they suffered humiliation the last time they locked horns against Australia in a Pink ball Test match.
Talking about the pink ball, the pundits and fans have already opined that Australia will level the series 1-1 and that India are certain to concede defeat against the Mighty Aussies. However, this article will shed light on why India have a chance against Australia and they can go 2-0 up after the Adelaide Test.
1. Enough Practice Between Two Tests
India have got a plenty of time between the two Tests to practice with the pink ball and adapt to how it behaves differently than a red ball. The team also played a warm-up game against AUS PM XI and beat them handsomely by six wickets in a pink-ball match.
The win would have definitely helped Indian players brush aside the ghosts of the infamous 36-all out in Adelaide in the 2020/21 tour.
2. Australia Suffered Defeat At Home In Their Last Day/Night Test
Australia boast a great record with the pink ball. However, it is worth noting that they suffered a defeat in their latest D/N Test when they hosted West Indies.
Although it was not in Adelaide, the hosts were humbled by the Caribbean nation as they handed Baggy Greens an eight runs defeat to level the two-match Test series 1-1. Thus, that defeat would be in the back of the minds of Australian players and India would look to capitalise on that.
3. Form and Injury Concerns for Australia
Australia dealt a few setbacks before the start of the second Test as their star pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the 2nd Test because of injury. Further, Mitchell Marsh is also doubtful.
Talking about the senior batters, then Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are under the scanner because of their poor form.
