Afghanistan's young spin-bowling sensation, Allah Ghazanfar, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months and will remain under treatment during this timeline. The young spinner picked up an injury during the team's recent Zimbabwe tour, as confirmed by the Afghanistan CricketBoard.

The extended recovery period means he will also miss the 2025 IPL season for the Mumbai Indians. Allah Ghazanfar has made a lot of headlines lately, particularly since bagging an INR 4.8 crore contract in the IPL 2025 mega auction. 

In this situation, MI might consider roping in a replacement player. Thus, as the Afghan star sustains an unfortunate injury, here are three players who can replace him in the MI squad.

1. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Mujeeb Ur Rahman is an Afghan cricketer who plays for the Afghanistan national cricket team, mixing up off-breaks with leg-spin and ripping googlies and making a splash in T20 leagues around the world. 

Much like Ghazanfar, Mujeeb is known for his trickeries with the ball. He can deceive the batters with sudden variations in his bowling. MI will be looking for a bowler who can bring mystery to their spin department. Thus, this Aghan spinner could be a perfect replacement that MI can look into.

2. Keshav Maharaj

Keshav Maharaj has the experience as a spinner in the format. In absence of Ghazanfar, MI can opt for this South African left-arm spinner. He will not only bring in the potency but will also add experience in the bowling attack which could turn out to be crucial for the team during the tournament.

3. Adil Rashid

This English leg-spinner has been doing a good job for the teams he has played, especially in the middle phase. Adil Rashid could be a tricky customer for any batting line-up in the middle-overs. He has the ability to change his pace, length and bring in variations to deceive the batter. Besides being an effective and impactful bowler, Rashid's experience at the highest level could also be useful for the team.
