Jaiswal was the star of IND against ZIM [X]
Team India brought their best against the hosts, Zimbabwe and won the T20I series 4-1. Despite losing the first T20I match, they bounced back in style and won the next four matches.
The team had several stars, with every player contributing towards a series win. Led by Shubman Gill, the Indian side outplayed the hosts in all three departments and won the series rather comfortably.
So, with the tour done and dusted, we look at some key takeaways as India walks back home with a brilliant win.
Jaiswal-Abhishek, the future of Team India
India's T20I opening pair for the next 10 years should be sorted if they allow Yashasvi Jaiswal to open alongside another rising star, Abhishek Sharma.
They embody the new Indian ideology of attacking cricket, as both play a fearlessly and that is the mindset that former skipper Rohit Sharma left before he decided to retire. The two players showcased their class against Zimbabwe and should be the opening pair of India for the next T20 World Cup in 2026, and beyond.
End of Gill in T20Is?
Shubman Gill is a supremely talented player and has certainly cracked the ODI format. However, he is yet to find his feet in the T20I format. Despite being the leading run-scorer in the series, the Indian captain looked out of sorts, and struggled to score runs at a rapid pace.
With the likes of Jaiswal and Abhishek scoring at a strike-rate above 150, Gill could only muster 170 runs, at a strike-rate of 125.93.
With the core of the T20 World Cup returning from the next series onwards, Gill will find it difficult to cement his place in the game's shortest format.
Indian bowling in safe hands
With the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh shining at the biggest stage in T20 World Cup, the question was, can the back-up bowlers do well against Zimbabwe, and the answer is a resounding 'Yes.'
Ravi Bishnoi and Washington Sundar showed their class in the spin bowling department, and the pacers, Mukesh Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed were impressive throughout the series. India now have a pool of talented bowlers, which is a good sign of things to come.
