Mayank Agarwal during RCB days (Source: @kohlifiedjoydev/X.com)
The league stage of IPL 2025 is now into its last phase, and seven teams are currently in the playoffs race. As the season has progressed, many teams have lost key players due to injuries, and some of those teams have recently announced replacements.
There are chances for some of these replacements to play in the IPL, but there are many who might not get a single game this season. Thus, here are the three replacement players who might not play in IPL 2025.
1. Mayank Agarawal
Mayank Agarawal was once the most consistent batters in IPL and even led PBKS in the 2022 season. However, his stocks went down from that season as his consistency got affected, and has not played a lot in IPL in recent times. He went unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction, but now with an injury to Devdutt Padikkal, RCB have given him a new lifeline.

However, it is highly unlikely that he will get a chance as RCB already have Swastik Chikara in their squad. RCB need someone to play a role of aggressor at number 3 as Padikkal was doing, so Chikara can be a good choice. They also have options of playing either Rajat Patidar or Jacob Bethell at three, and Mayank Aggarwal being a natural opener, it is hard to see him playing unless another RCB top-order batter gets injured.
The 23-year-old youngster from Afghanistan has been drafted into DC line-up as a late replacement of Harry Brook. He has scored runs consistently in T20 cricket in his brief career, but has no experience of playing in IPL, and with playoff place in sights, it is highly unlikely that DC will experiment with a debutant.

Sediqullah is an opener, and thus, if he has to play, DC would have to drop an overseas bowling option, Dushmantha Chameera. If they do that, Sediqullah may get a chance, but with just a few matches left in the league stage, the management might go back to Jake Fraser McGurk. He did well for DC in the last season and could change the complexion of the game if he gets going.
3. Lhuan Dre Pretorius
Lhuan Dre Pretorius has emerged as one of the promising young talents from South Africa and RR have signed him as a replacement of injured Nitish Rana. He is a left-handed opening batter and has all the gears in his game to become a successful batter in IPL and at the international level.

However, despite his talent and good numbers in SA20, he might not get a chance to play in IPL 2025. The reason is that RR only have two matches left and they already have openers like Yashasvi Jasiwal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Sanju Samson. The Kerala-lad is expected to be fit for the CSK game, thus they already have problem of plenty in the top order, and thus Pretorius is not likely to get a game this season.
