Rinku Singh bashed 20 unbeaten runs from just nine balls after Sunil Narine’s hundred to take Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to a monumental 223-run total. Despite KKR’s run-fest upfront at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens in match number 31 of the IPL 2024 season, they slumped to a thrilling last-ball defeat at the hands of table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Regardless of the outcome, Rinku Singh praised Narine for his top-order blitzkrieg, and also revealed the reason behind his ‘Impact Player’ trade with Vaibhav Arora for the second half of the game.

Rinku Singh admits to carrying a niggle

While speaking with the reporters after the match, KKR cult hero Rinku Singh admitted that he was carrying a niggle for the past few days and will resume fielding in time for his team’s next game this IPL 2024 season.

The cricketer also praised Sunil Narine for his sublime 56-ball 109 at the top, which set up foundation of a monumental KKR total.

Rinku further praised the visiting Rajasthan Royals troops for coming out victorious in a hard-fought game, and singled out Jos Buttler’s run-chase masterclass.

Despite the defeat, KKR continues to maintain its number two on the IPL 2024 points table, and currently stand as firm favorites to march on to the playoffs in the coming weeks.

Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh and the rest of his KKR teammates will now face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in match number 36 of the tournament.

The much-awaited contest will also be staged by the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 21.
