In an absolutely unreal display of hitting prowess, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) put 277 runs on board against Mumbai Indians (MI), thus surpassing RCB's highest-ever IPL team total record.

Sunrisers Hyderabad unleashed an unimaginable onslaught on the Mumbai Indians bowling lineup earlier today in an IPL 2024 season matchup.

Having opted to bowl first, Hardik Pandya paid a heavy price. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head mercilessly trashed MI's debutant Kwena Maphaka early. While Bumrah pulled things back to an extent, the rest of the bowlers were taken to the cleaners. 

While Head registered a 18-ball half century, Abhishek surpassed him to become the fastest half century getter for SRH with a 16-ball fifty.

SRH brought up 100 runs on board inside the first 10 overs, and the party was just getting started. 

After Head and Sharma departed, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen capitalized on the start to script history for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Once Bumrah finished his quota, Klaasen unleashed carnage on Maphaka and Shams Mulani.

An under pressure Mulani offered freebies to Klaasen and with a 21 runs final over, SRH finished with a ground breaking 277 runs total at the end of first innings.

RCB previously held the record for highest IPL team total back in 2013 when they slammed 263 runs against Pune Warriors India. Chris Gayle alone contributed with 175 runs with AB de Villiers finishing off in style with 8-ball 31 runs knock.

However, SRH came much stronger today as the entire hitting lineup came together collectively to script history for SRH. Besides Markram and Mayank Agarwal, every other guy batted with a 200+ strike rate. 

Undoubtedly, SRH's surreal hitting display will go down into the archives of IPL history as one of the most extraordinary and freak moments.
