Rajasthan Royals (RR) fail to seal their playoff qualification as they fall 20 runs short against hosts, Delhi Capitals (DC). However, they still stand on the second position in the points table with 16 points, tied but below Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

Chasing 221, skipper, Sanju Samson led the Royals from the front, scoring 86 (46) before his controversial dismissal off Khaleel Ahmed. Despite Samson's valiant effort, nobody else stood to the other end as they faltered at the end. Shubham Dubey looked good for his 25 from 12 which eventually wasn't enough.

Talking in the post-match interview, Samson discussed their chances of winning this game, where they went wrong and what was the par score on this wicket.

"We had it in our hands, it was 10-11 RPO which was achievable on this wicket but these things happen in the IPL."

On bowling after winning despite their good run with the bat so far in the tournament, Samson stressed the importance of assessing the conditions and making decisions. Also, saying 220 was 10 runs over par.

"We're doing both things fine, we want to stick to what the conditions demand. 220 was 10 runs too many. DC batted really well. Their opener (Fraser-McGurk) started well and kept doing what he was doing this tournament. Ashwin got him out."

"We came back well but the last couple of overs went for more than what I expected," Samson added.

Crediting his team for the way they have played throughout the season, Samson said the focus is to keep finding the mistakes and improve on them.

Backing his bowlers who went for plenty at the death, the RR captain also lauded how Tristian Stubbs batted towards the end.

"You have to credit Stubbs actually. How he batted against Sandeep Sharma, who has been doing a great job for me. He scored those extra 2-3 bowlers against my best players, Sandeep (Sharma) and Yuzi (Chahal). We have to keep learning and moving forward."
