The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has taken a heartwarming step by deciding to name stands at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium after legendary cricketers from the state. The likes of Erapalli Prasanna, GR Vishwanath, BS Chandrasekhar, Syed Kirmani, Brijesh Patel, Roger Binny, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Javagal Srinath, and Venkatesh Prasad will be honored for their contributions to Indian and Karnataka cricket.

KL Rahul, one of Karnataka’s current stars, has represented India in all three formats. The 32-year-old batter is currently playing in Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. His impressive 77-run innings in the second innings of the first Test played a key role in India’s victory by 295 runs at Perth.

Rahul Shares Thoughts On the Initiative

During a press conference, KL Rahul was asked if he dreams of having a stand named after him at the iconic Bengaluru stadium. He responded humbly, saying:

“I would love to have a stand after my name, but for that, I will have to score a lot of runs. I haven’t reached that stage of my career where I can make it a possibility. It is a good move by the Karnataka Cricket Association to honour the cricketers who have played for the country and the state. It is a lovely initiative.”

The Batting Order Debate In India's Playing XI

Meanwhile, there’s ongoing debate about where KL Rahul will bat in the second Test. With Rohit Sharma returning to the team as the designated opener, the batting order is not clear. Well, Rahul typically bats at No. 6 in Test matches. However, his remarkable 201-run opening partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal in the series opener has complicated things.

It is worth noting that in the warm-up match against Australia's PM XI, Rohit Sharma batted at No. 4 to allow Rahul to open. Rahul’s versatility and ability to adapt to different batting positions have been praised, but it remains to be seen where he will slot in next.

The second Test, a day-night match featuring a pink ball, will be played at Adelaide Oval starting this Friday, December 6.
