Australian captain Pat Cummins scripted history on Tuesday, as he became the first-ever player to breach the 20 Cr-mark in the IPL auction. Hailed for his hit-the-deck bowling and lower-order power hitting, Cummins was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for an eyebrow-raising price of INR 20.5 Crores.
In his reaction, the Australian speedster expressed his happiness at joining the Orange Army for the 2024 season of the tournament.
He revealed how he has always enjoyed playing in Hyderabad, while being thrilled to share the dressing room with his national teammate Travis Head.
"Pumped to be joining SRH for the upcoming IPL season. I have heard a lot about the Orange Army and played a few times in Hyderabad. I have always loved the city, so can't wait for it to get started. Great to see another Aussie Trav Head over there as well. So, I think we will have a lot of fun and success," Cummins said in a video released by SRH.
Although Cummins breached the 20 Cr mark, his record was short-lived and got broken by his bowling partner Mitchell Starc, bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping INR 24.75 Crores.
